Day 2: Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

Confession: There is none. I just needed a title, so I wrote in the first words I thought of, and that’s what came out! I also thought it was a little funny.

In order to make this post BETTER and MORE EXCITING, I am going to retroactively give it some meaning, so I can tie in a video. (Self-reflective note: assigning something meaning after the fact is something I have done a lot of in my career as an art student.)

My blog is called: “Hello, I am speaking” This is a slightly ironic allusion to the fact that this blog is my personal log, my public diary. It’s stating that I’m speaking, and I want you to listen to me. In essence, it’s saying…. I HAVE A VOICE.

The King’s Speech is my favorite movie that I’ve seen in a long time. I love it. I could watch it many and many times…

That trailer is great, but I actually prefer this one, for getting the real feel of the film:

Day 1: Introduce, recent picture of yourself, 15 “interesting” facts

Hello! My name is Hannah. If we were meeting in person, you might notice that I’m wearing glasses, or that I’m quite tall, or that I like to smile.

me at last week's swing dance in the Union. yes, I was posing.

  1. My right ear is slightly higher on my head than my left ear. This means that glasses are normally crooked on my face if they haven’t been adjusted.
  2. I first read The Hobbit when I was 11 years old, and I read it in two days.
  3. I was homeschooled all the way through until I started college, and I loved it!
  4. I am a PK, but kind of an undercover one.
  5. I once seriously considered doing Engineering in college.
  6. I secretly want to drive a racecar, just so I can drive REALLY REALLY FAST (legally).
  7. I love to swing dance! Lindy Hop, Balboa, a little blues every now and again, and yes, even Charleston when forced.
  8. I used to twirl baton! For about two years.
  9. I have taken Russian 101 for two weeks in two separate semesters, but had to drop it both times. I still want to learn to speak Russian (and Norwegian, and Hebrew, and Arabic, and French…) I remember how to say “My name is Hannah”, “very good”, “what is it?” and that’s about it.
  10. My name+middle name is Hannah Grace. Hannah means Grace of God (or just Grace), so I’m technically Grace Grace. Grace means “undeserved mercy”, and I love that that’s my name. God’s grace is one of the most important parts of life! And oh so sweet.
  11. I think Wuthering Heights is a terrible book, especially in the characterization.
  12. I’m the youngest of 4 siblings, and 11 cousins. Both of my parents are also the youngest in their families.
  13. I have read all five Three Musketeer books.
  14. My name (Hana) means flower in Japanese, it’s a PALINDROME, it’s Hebrew, there’s a beautiful bible story about a strong and intense Hannah, and there are some cool songs written about Hannahs.
  15. I’m an Aunt of two adorable little fellas!

update: lol I just realized I spelled “challenge” wrong in the tags. I’m leaving it.
